What they don’t teach you in school is the Irish worked the dangerous jobs in The south that plantation owners wouldn’t let the slaves do because they didn’t want to injure their investments!
That why Irish moved to the south. The Irish rioted in the north because they issued a draft one in which if you had enough money you could get out of going! Basically these immigrants just landed in American and took low skilled uneducated jobs “they didn’t have the money to buy their way out of service”! To put it bluntly it was a draft on the Irish and they singled them out with intent. The Irish are not stupid and knew what was going on and got pissed off!
Now onto the more interesting concepts! The potato famine plague originated in America and Ireland got the “I think it was a fungus” from us. Then a mass exodus to America and then a war in which they basically forced them to fight for other peoples freedoms!
Almost seems intentional to me. The English also made it impossible for the Irish at home “they always hated the Irish” but it went pretty far.
It was Irish immigrants dying in mass that gave the north their edge because they had more fresh shipments of Irish immigrants then the south did.

can someone explain to me why boston is so irish, yet also home to the same east coast establishment types that were historically anti-irish?
The blue bloods loved our cheap labor Initially. We stayed, procreated en masse, and took power through political office and unions.
