Daily Anxieties

The prick of nagging memories in her mind,
The stress she bears on her shoulder,
The missing rent check she is desperate to find,
The unwanted thought of the lover who used to hold her.

The loose thread on the sleeve of her cashmere sweater,
The dust on her new boots from the gravel,
The tough conversation that could have gone better,
The knot in her heart to unravel.
