Dude your pic had me worried right now. I'm panicking because I think I got a crack in my screen.
Sorry, my friend! I’ll screenshot next time.
Handmaid's Tale crossover episode
[fake Russian accent] In Russia-Gilead, men are the abused broodmares.
The Pete is expecting a child and can't afford to be fired right now?
No, this is season 6, no baby on the way for Pete. I have no clue what Don means by this, but it really cracked me up.
Okay, wasn't sure of the context. Thought withdrawn.
How did you cracked your tv mate
That’s my laptop, and the answer is that I let my child use it.
jesus christ you made me think i have a crack in my screen
😂 Sorry! That’s me being too lazy to screenshot.
It's a callback to S1, Pete is trying to befriend Don more who says, “Let's take it a little slower. I don't want to wake up pregnant.” Of course that's an allusion to Peggys 'wake up' call pregnancy later. BUT to the intent of Don there he's commenting on Pete being overly effusive and do anything Don wants. Just as he is now in S7, Pete's all gung-ho Don again, a là "He's a delicate piece of horseflesh!" So Don is saying the timing is right, Pete will go along with Peggy's delivery of this big account/career-making baby. Don is ok with letting go.
Pete is no longer in control of the process. In their little Burger Chef family, Pete did the deciding when he chose both Don and Peggy for the Burger Chef team but that concludes the Account man’s choices much like a woman can choose to have reproductive sex but can’t choose to not be pregnant right before delivery. Now, all Pete can do is sit there while Creative delivers the healthy baby I.e new business. And Don wants Peggy to do it because a) she can and b) he was worried about his future in the agency and wanted his last act to be seeing Peggy land a significant account so she’s a significantly more valuable creative.
Ah! You’re brilliant!
Meaning don does this altruistically, to help Peggy? Or somehow her landing the account will help him as well?
It was altruistic. At this point, Don is at a career low. He’s worried he may be forced out of the agency or just kept in this humiliating copywriter position that he’s been in. If Don was looking out for #1, he’d use this opportunity to pitch and win Burger Chef and be a star.
I have a hard time accepting he would to anything fully altruistic….
Literally the point though. This scene is very much intended to show Don’s character development.
