Overwhelmed barista
This really kind of a rant but whatever. The coffee shop I work at recent had a change in ownership and my new boss’s only experience with coffee or espresso is drinking it. As of late she’s recently been changing how we’re supposed to tamp the espresso (as in no tamping at all and just leveling out the ground) and it’s kind of aggravating because I’ve been a barista for 6 years now and to have someone that doesn’t clean the portafilter after pulling shots (because “it doesn’t make a difference”)or wipe the frothing wand after steaming milk, and leave her shots sitting try to correct me someone who she’s had train and continue to retrain our new baristas (after her telling them some bs about an “easier” way about how to do things) it’s really overwhelming and I don’t know what to do. Any advice??
Edit: Unrelated to espresso but we have a self-serve coffee station where we put our coffee carafes and when it comes time for the afternoon shift my boss refuses to let me make a fresh pot for the afternoon shift which is 11-3 on weekends and 11-5 on weekdays. I personally think that’s pretty gross. Am I overreacting?
