Puppy won't settle

Behavior

Hi, I've had my Great Dane puppy for about a week now and I've noticed he won't settle unless he's right next to me...without a gate between us.

I have set up a dedicated puppy area in the middle of the living room, very close to my desk where I spend most of my time. He has his crate there, chews like bully sticks/pigs ears/an antler, a few toys, a puzzle feeder with treats. He won't touch any of it. He's too anxious being in there, even though I reassure him and throw treats in there for him.

I try to exercise him as much as I can, but walks (which are only 10 minutes but we do several a day) make him more hyper, he won't play for a long time as he gets distracted, same thing with training.

The only time he's calmly chewing on these things is on the couch next to me in the evening. It's like he has to be near me at all times without the gate.

I do my best to give him attention and play time, but it just doesn't seem to be enough. Am I doping something wrong? Anything I can do to make it better?
