My bf (25 m) of two years broke up with me (23 f) out of the blue and I am not sure if it’s really a breakup?
So my boyfriend (25 male) of close to two years just randomly dropped the whole breakup bomb on me out of nowhere and I mean like, we were at the movies the night before and then he kissed me goodbye the morning of and said I love you. Now any breakup is hard but I think the suddenness of mine really has me reeling. We have had some issues (I myself have PTSD, depression, and anxiety) but we have worked so hard on them and made a lot of progress in communication, how to handle issues, etc and not just in the relationship but as people. He keeps saying it is because he believes that I deserve better than him and someone who will make me happy but also said he is not sure if he loves me anymore. While I love and respect him and his choice it very much feels like he has his own issues (which is ok) and can’t be in a relationship while dealing with them. He has been going to therapy for a month now after I pushed him too when we had a nasty argument and I pointed out a lot of things. I myself have my own issues and trauma but I just have a sinking feeling this is not fully official. He did not even say he wanted to break up I had to after sitting in silence waiting for him to respond for an hour (in person). I of course want to love and support him but he wants to remain friends and I feel once he sorts out more of his own issues he may realize this is a mistake. I have already deleted his number, silenced it, returned his things and gotten mine, deleted photos, etc. but I just cannot understand his mindset or motives. He has told me before he is not even sure he loves his family and he also has never had a gf. Is this breakup somehow my fault? Is it even really a breakup? how long do I wait? Do I wait? I feel like this is completely out of nowhere and almost like it is not even what he wants. Is that even a possibility or wishful thinking?
