How does the US Military keep track of so many assets?
The US military is such a massive organization. I can't comprehend how it's possible for them to centralize and keep track of their assets and operations. Fighting several wars at one time, having 1000 occupied military bases abroad (including presence at foreign bases), and managing the logistical machine that the US military primarily is seems like an impossibility.
I'm familiar with several fortune-500 trucking logistics companies that keep track of every truck and load on a large map system (like a strategy game). Does the US military do this? How do they know what's where? Surely it's not all paper-based now. Is there any knowledge of how the military manages all this?
