Does your world have any unique regards/customs for its special needs people?

Just something to think about that I don't see explored too often in fiction!

Special needs could be: The elderly, people with physical disabilities, people with mental health issues, deaf/blind people, trans people, people that carry debilitating curses, people who can't maintain a corporeal form, unstable shapeshifters, vampires who are allergic to the sun etc.

Are there things they employ to help them?

Are there places for them to go to?

Do those people hold a special role in society?

Are they shunned or given hateful names?

Does it grant them special powers/abilities?
