Has anyone been on a plane recently?

I'm going to Hawaii in June, about 6 hour flight. I remember reading a post from someone asking the same question, and a comment said actually on the newer aircraft, with muffs/plugs the noise isn't bad whatsoever. I'm not too worried about it but I'm looking at some Sony 100xM3's that might be great for active noise cancellation in the cabin. I know some people have said they aggravate their ears, but I'd put earplugs underneath.
