The key to unlocking Epigone??

So I absolutely love Veil of Imagination by Wilderun (I'd give it a 5/5) but I just can't get Epigone to click. I really like Passager and Identifier but making my way through the first 2 songs just feels like a wishy-washy slog of nothingness. And what makes it worse is: people are always going on about how it's best album ever! - not to mention Angry Metal Guy's constant insistence of its iconic status. I'm left feeling rather left out, dejected...even defective! Can anyone help me with the key to unlocking it?
