Large Family then OAD?

Questions

Calling all parents who come from large families: Hi! Happy fence-sitter over here. Background: I’m 34. Husband is 40. Our first is just now 17 weeks. He has such a wonderful temperament and I feel incredibly fortunate. More background: I come from a large family of 6 (4 kids, married parents). My husband comes from a larger family (5 kids, divorced parents, 1 step sister). Given many factors including my age, our fortunate ease with our son (knock on wood), the economic climate, our high-demand jobs…I mean, a million things, we can’t decide if we are OAD and thus take all measures to be or anticipate a second by simply not preventing. I am very close with my siblings and would love love love that for our family. My husband isn’t close with his but they get along fine. We both enjoyed many aspects of larger families. We also don’t want to risk the whole only child syndrome…which I know is taboo to say. Anyway, this is rambling: Those of you who come from large families, how and why did you decide to be OAD?
