Can I take my "friend" to civil court? Purchased something, never received it, over $1000.
Okay, so I bought a $1300 pc component from a friend of a friend. This person, I've met and hung out with a few times. I was supposed to go pick it up from him, but a family member died, and I moved out of state. He wanted me to pay shipping, which is fine, but I couldn't pay it due to funeral fees. Once I had the money to pay for shipping, he told me he had to liquidate all the items because his business partner was trying to sue him. I told him that that item wasn't his to liquidate, as I bought it. It's been over a year of me asking for my money back, but like a broke bitch he hasn't had a job to pay any of his bills for over a year. I have most of the conversations on text, as well as a cash app statement. Is this something I can take to civil court? Or was I dumb for trusting a friend of a friend and am SOL?
