Exhaustion
I’m not entirely sure where to start. I’m not sure what’s revant. I am overwhelmed. It feels like people think my only identity is my partner being trans. That I am there to serve her needs and I have no needs. And the act of having needs outside of this is grounds for a litany of issues. My partner and I share our own brokenness. She’s this entirely beautiful creature. There is no reason why this relationship should operate differently solely based on her growing into her own beautiful person. I hear these comments of partners like me feeling like they’re letting the trans community down. I would call any of this a noble act. All I did was fall in love with this beautiful person. She was male presenting when we met and it’s been a journey and now I’m getting a lot of resentment for making her feel safe and becoming herself. You know what I have the same questions. Why did I show up when she was 33 and you’ve known her since preschool and you didn’t make her feel safe. Why on earth is that a reflection of me. And by the way I didn’t really do anything. She did it on her own and deserves all the credit. There is entirely too much pressure to live up to this imaginary standard I’m never gonna meet.
