I Never Got to Say Goodbye

My partners' death was an unexpected accident. In his last text message to me, he told me he loved me. I didn’t respond in time because my phone was on “do not disturb” and I didn’t hear the notification. When I eventually responded, my message didn’t deliver. I know he knew that I loved him (and I always will), but I wish I would have told him earlier in the day. I wish I got to say goodbye.
