Not Just ICE: Forced Sterilization in the United States

Forced sterilization can occur under many different circumstances, such as when an individual is not aware of the procedure taking place, has been given no opportunity to truly consent to the procedure, or gives consent under duress.

I chatted with one person (female) beginning transition soon. They described what sounded a lot like symptoms of PCOS from early on. We chatted about how they'd had a hysterectomy. They had never even heard of PCOS. Apparently their doctor felt sterilization was better than treating PCOS.

Most of us transitioned when under duress, under huge psychological distress for various reasons. We may have "consented" but we didn't really know what we were consenting to. Nobody did, this is all experimental modernized eugenics, duh.

At first, these programs targeted white men who were “mentally deficient,” diseased, or otherwise disabled, but by the 1920s, the practice had expanded to impact as many women as men.

I would say looking at myself and around at my in person trans community and the trans community online, I would label our population group as frequently those who are "mentally deficient" (mental illness, autism, trauma, developmental disorders), I myself am disabled and always thought it interesting I met so many disabled folks in the trans community, but never put 2 and 2 together.

Rationalizations for compulsory sterilization have included eugenics, population control, gender discrimination, limiting the spread of HIV,[2] "gender-normalizing" surgeries for intersex people, and ethnic genocide. In some countries, transgender individuals are required to undergo sterilization before gaining legal recognition of their gender, a practice that the United Nations Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment has described as a violation of the Yogyakarta Principles.

"Gender-normalizing surgeries" are the new conversion therapy for homosexuals or other gender deviants.

I guess I'm just numb at this point. But it feels right, it feels good to look at this thing in the face and call it what it is. This wave of liberal "affirmation" of "transgender" indviduals. It's just eugenics, that's all. Ah, so heartwarming to be affirmed.

Society simply shifted away from the tactic of jailing or putting people like us away into mental institutions and decided to use positive psychology instead. Just treat people like us nicely and say we're brave and stunning for transitioning and we'll happily go along with the program with less fuss and muss for everyone.
