Can a lower dimensional being perceive higher spacial dimensions as time but not space?

Example: suppose there lives a square in 2d world. No concept of time is there in the universe of 2d. But imagine I as a third spacial dimensional being copy the 2d world of square and put it on top of it but slightly change the position of square on the next layer. Suppose I do it multiple times. Somehow this universe is also turned into a 3d universe but our square is the same but it's position keeps changing on the upper layers. Will square perceive the change of his place as time?
