What’s up with MOSI?

I took my kids to a paid event there today. The event was fine - even good - but the place looks more like Pripyat than a Museum of Science and Industry. Did this place fall on hard times due to COVID? The dilapidation, decay, and even removal of obvious previous sponsorship is painfully evident. Seems like a lot of lost potential, I hope to understand the “problem” and perhaps be part of a solution.
