Backdoor roth taxed twice
Hey guys,
Having an issue with getting taxed twice on my backdoor roth contributions. I initially contributed to a Roth IRA last year putting 6k in. I realized through that I was making over the minimum income for a Roth IRA contribution (I was a resident but moonlighted and made more then the minimum which I believe is 138k). I converted the Roth IRA money (by then it was around 4.8k as it depreciated from 6k) into a traditional IRA. Waited a few days then recharecteried it back into the Roth IRA.
On turbo tax it is taxing me on the contributions, which from my understanding I shouldn’t be taxed on.
Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.
