Shimano or SRAM for budget build?

Hey gang, not trying to start a flame war, I promise, but I'm curious if there's a consensus on Shimano vs. SRAM for bar end shifter TT/triathlon bike builds. I am building up a budget 10 speed time trial bike and am considering a new drivetrain when I do. It will likely be used or NOS parts, but I'm wondering whether I should try Shimano for this build or stick with SRAM. I know SRAM's reputation in MTB and road, but not in bar end shifters. I have SRAM now and it's OK, though the front derailleur is less than impressive. I'm wondering if there will be any improvement with shimano or if it's a push at this level.
