Suicidal roommate/friend, idk what to do? please give advice

My friend/roommate is having a really hard time with I want to say depression. I can tell it’s beginning to get to a point that’s hopeless for her. I’ve asked if she has intention of taking her life and she says she just has thoughts of it but no intention. She has asked me a couple times to take her to the hospital because she says “I feel insane”. I haven’t taken her because typically she ends up calming down and feels less out of control and I honestly don’t know where I would take her. Do I take her to the emergency room? How do I know where her insurance will be covered? Do you think a program of some kind would be better? I really want to be there for her, I just am super ill equipped. Any suggestions would be so appreciated ❤️
