Another Pistol Whip post

Played just now for the first time. I only played 20 minutes and holy hell my legs hurt. Is there a setting I'm missing for duel wielding? Right at the beginning I could see both guns but after a couple of times firing the left an options menu came up then the right gun would disappear. It got to the point where only my right was available. Then in the tutorial both brass knuckles appeared but then I could only use right.
