Can’t boot from drive after installing windows

I have been able to run the USB windows installer on my 980 2TB, but in the bios it does not appear as a boot option when in UEFI mode. It only appears when I select UEFI + Legacy mode. Even then, I can select the drive in the boot priority but when I try to boot from it I get stuck on the flashing white cursor as it looks for the drive or I get a message asking me to select a boot device. I have made an attempt to mess around with diskpart and GPT vs MBR disk types. When I look up the same issue I find that I may have a lack of understanding when it comes to drive issues.
