401k to employer match % -> max hsa if eligible -> max roth ira -> max 401k -> brokerage account and or rental properties.

The bank investment account is automatically run by chase they place all the trades for me, I don't know exactly what is in it

I reduced my 401k contribution for a while back when we bought our house.  

Back then, the match came in two pieces.

1. the first 2% of my salary was matched dollar-for-dollar
2. the next 3% of my salary bought me shares of the profit sharing.  

When we bought the house, we reduced my 401k contribution from 5% to 3%.

Do not make yourself house and retirement poor.  Spare cash can go into the IRA.

What's in the bank investment account?  I've never sold taxable investments to fund an IRA.

I don't have a ton of flexible income right now because I recently bought a house so I'm not able to max a Roth, would it be smart to transfer the bank investment account to the Roth as part of this year's contribution

At 23 I was just starting my 401k -- I got my job a few months out of college (graduated at 21), and for the first year I was not permitted to join the 401k.  Which meant I got a jump start on savings.

I had a month into the 401k when I turned 23.  I was only putting 5% in.  I didn't start an IRA until 10 years later when I was maxing out my 401k and had money left over after taxable investments as well.  

Now I'm late 50s and my 401k is already 10x my salary.

I think all 3 -- 401k, Taxable investments, IRA.  The taxable investments you can use whenever, for whatever.  The 401k and IRA have rules and restrictions and loopholes and are good for after 59 1/2.

I would look to max out the Roth.  If you need this money from the other investment account to do that that's the action I would take.  I ran the numbers in a compound calculator and if you manage to put 6500 in per year every year for 40 years, at age 63 you'd have $1,818,576.76 assuming a return of 8% per year.  Time is your friend.

Edit:  This is just the Roth, not factoring in your pretax account.

I'm really looking for really any and all suggestions, I was assuming I should close the bank investment account but I was wondering if I should put that money into the Roth or to another account.

I would not be doing any investing with a bank.  Investing should be with Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab or M1 Finance.  I would prioritize your Roth over after tax investing if you are looking to find retirement.

I'd take full advantage of your tax-advantaged accounts like your Roth IRA or company 401k before contributing to your banks investment fund (assuming it's a taxable account).

401k limit is $22,500 and Roth IRA limit is $6500.

Invest in your company's 401K or Roth 401K especially if it has a matching contribution.. That's free money you can't pass up.
Max out a Roth IRA.
Max out a HSA if you're eligible for one. 
If you have extra money, max out your 401K or Roth 401K. 
Lastly, invest in your taxable account.

At the age of 23, you are doing fine.  Just keep it up.

As long as your 401k is in a S&P 500 Index fund, and in your Roth you diversify and go into small cap value or healthcare, or international

I am guessing your income is around $80,000 before taxes, and with your math you are putting in $1000 per month into the 401k

401k in 40 years will be worth $3,661,516 at 8% annual return

Your regular investment at 5% annual return will be worth $183,888

Your roth IRA at 8% annual return will be worth $361,807

Make sure your saving in your roth/401k are actually being invested (in something like a total market mutual fund), not just in the account sitting in cash waiting to be invested.

I'd stop investing in the bank account investment fund and even empty it out to put everything in the Roth IRA. (You might still be able to make contributions for 2022 if your Roth IRA already existed in 2022).

This is because the Roth IRA comes with tax benefits and because you can take out contributions at any time without penalties or having to pay any taxes. This makes it superior over investing in a taxable account with your bank. The fees at the bank may also be higher than the fees of Fidelity for your Roth IRA.

You'd want to max out the Roth IRA every year.

And I hope that within the Roth IRA you are investing in low-fee index funds or in the index target date fund of your target year?

I am 23 and working full time with a net take home of about 60k/year. Through my employer I have a 401k with a 6% match. I am currently puting in 10%. The 401k has about 14k in it. I also have a regular automated investment fund through my bank account that I put in $100/month and it has about $4500. A few months ago I opened a Roth IRA through fidelity which I put $100/month. The Roth has about $1200 in it currently. The only debt I have currently is a mortgage and a car payment that will be payed off in about 4 months. So my question is where should I be putting my money for retirement?
