What REALLY changed between 2008 and today?

Discussion

2000 - 2007 was a massive jump. we went from dial up, crt screens, plasma tvs etc to smartphones, high speed internet, social media, flatscreen tvs and hd video, etc.

but what changed after that? How big was the jump between 2008 and 2023? Compare the life of someone in 1908 to someone in 1923. The difference is, to say the least, extremely noticable, right? Cars, penicillin, plastic, insulin, toasters, etc all did not exist in 1908, but did by 1923. but what has changed from 2008 to 2023? we have a few primitive gene therapies which were already in the early stages before 2008, electric cars have gotten better, computers and smartphones have gotten better, A.I has improved, and 3d printing became more widespread.

and… thats basically it. at least 4/6 of those are just improvements on existing technologies. apart from those, the only real new technologies are prototype / primitive gene therapies and 3d printing. But nothing too major. We still drive the same vehicles, wear the same clothes, live in the same houses, etc. our lives are pretty much the same.

so what can we realistically expect in the next 15 years, between now and 2038? Well, computers, smartphones, A.I, etc and a lot of other technologies will obviously get better. We will almost certainly have better and more gene therapies, 3d printing will probably become mainstream. And thats all i can see happening by then. MAYBE the first (simple) anti aging treatments will come out, if were being optimistic. But thats it. Nanobots, stem cell cures, printed organs, graphene, etc will all still be decades away.
