Flexibility of a CE degree

career

Hi y'all.

Im about to finish high school and go to college in the US, where I applied for a CE major. From the amount of research that I have done, people have said that a CE degree is flexible and will allow me to have many options and job opportunities when I get out of college, simply because I will have a broad knowledge of electrical, CS, and CE knowledge.

How true is this? If I decide to look more into software engineering, could I take more software related electives in my university to make it so I am even more well versed into CS? I'm excited to start studying what I love (hardware), but I am also a little unsure and afraid of what options I will actually get out of college. Ive always loved hardware, and I've always had a strong interest in that sort of this (a little less in software but still definitely there). I chose a CE degree for this reason.

Thanks so much.
