Environmental vs Civil engineering
hi, right now I am an undergrad studying environmental science. I’m in my second year and I have decided to pursue environmental engineering bcs it’s better suited to my career goals. I have a slight problem though:
I live in an island that only has 2 institutions that offer engineering degrees. Option A is more prestigious than the other(more global recognition), but doesn’t offer environmental engineering so I would have to go into civil engineering and then specialize in what I’d like.
Option B is less prestigious but offers a bachelors in environmental engineering.
Both are ABET accredited.
I have heard a lot of opinions but most say to go into civil and then specialize since that will make me more “versatile” in the work force.
On the other hand if I go for option B there’s a big chance that I could graduate a bit earlier than if I went with option A (bcs of all the chemistry courses I’ve already taken) which is something that matters to me since I’m already 2 years into college.
What should I do? What should I consider? Research more about?
