Dark Tanned leather backpack? how do you get the dark version?

I've seen the dark version on community servers, and when I've tried on official servers, it always gives me the light tanned version.

I've tried pig, wolf and cow. And I've also tried re-tanning but it wont allow me to. Is the dark tanned only on community or is it a specific animal?

TIA
