Buddy is on an OG Xbox One. Gets 1 fps as soon as he is near a swamp. Anything he can do to fix it?

Got a tip here a while back. Uninstalled and played it with Cloud gaming. Cleared up my FPS issue. Runs like a dream now.

I have this same issue. I haven't used cloud gaming because I was skeptical of having input lag like I do when I'm using my cell phone.
Is that an issue here? I'll have to try it. I can't kill the second boss because the game drops to unplayable fps before I can kill him.

I haven’t seen the 2nd boss yet. But everything so far on the cloud has been fine for me. No input lag. At least nothing I notice.

I have the same problem. It's fine if I wait in an area for a few mins. I think it has trouble loading assets. Killing enemies is a lot easier tho haha

The best they can do is run the game at 720p by setting it up in Xbox settings. It's currently unknows what causes such large fps drops in swamps and black forest for old consoles, but it's believed to be connected to the large amount of enemies being around in those biomes. Ask your friend to load into a new world, enable devcommands (LB+LT+menu button), type devcommands, type fly, fly to the swamp, when they notice having low fps, let them try typing killall command, which will cause all enemies around to die, which should reveal if the low FPS is caused by having too many enemies around.

People hate it when others say this, but it’s the truth. “Time to upgrade”. 10 year old consoles are slowly getting caught in the dust with new game releases. Series s is a pretty good price for what you’re getting. It’s about $200 cheaper than the X.
This could just be the devs poorly optimizing it, but I know for a fact newer games look terrible or simply aren’t supported on old gen anymore sadly
Yeah, sadly it is the only good advice, although turning all the graphics to minimum settings might buy him a little wiggle room if he hasn't already. The game won't look as pretty but it will be less of a slideshow so pros and cons there. The optimisation isn't amazing in Valheim, but it's pretty good, the really trouble is that it's not been optimised for decade old console tech so although it WILL run on an xbone it's not going to run WELL on one.
Yeah he knows it's upgrade time after this experience lol. Most of the games he plays are still manageable on the old box so he just hasn't yet
