A post for when you really want to use magic, but don't know how

It has come to my attention that there are a lot of posters that come here for spell recommendations, as they can't think of what to do themselves, or don't know how to work magic. If you're one of such posters, this is here to try to give you a couple of ideas. This is not a replacement for actually going deep into a direction and studying a system, or a tradition, but this is something to just get you started.

Sigils

Sigils are spells using a sentence of intent turned into a shape that your mind can internalize easily.

To construct a sigil you would first write down a sentence of what you want to happen. It is recommended that you phrase this sentence in present tense (because the future is always in the future) and try to avoid adding negative words (as your mind can get mixed up and invite the opposite of what you want to happen), so, for example, instead of saying "I am not seen as ugly", you phrase it as "I am perceived as very beautiful and seductive".

After this remove all the vowels from the sentence (our previously mentioned "I am perceived as very beautiful and seductive" becomes "m prcvd s vr btfl nd sdctv". Next remove all repeating letters. So now we have "m prcvd s btfl n". You then take these letters and construct a simple picture out of them. So draw an M, glue a P to it and so on. Now if you're putting down a capital R, it practically is a P with an extra line, so you can use that knowledge to simplify your picture. The goal is to make it a simple shape. Some even take the picture that they drew and redraw it again cleaning it up to something that resembles the previous shape, but has less random bits sticking out.

Now here is where people proceed further completely differently. Sigil activation. Some leave the sigil laying around until their mind forgets their desire. When you look at it and think "oh, what is this little picture?", that's the time to "activate" the sigil (starting its effect) and get rid of it. Other people use it as a never ending effect and for them the picture is a reminder that the spell is working, so the sigil is activated on creation and they give their attention to it as a way of recharging it (so sort of like a paper affirmation if you will). Other people activate and get rid of the sigil on creation of the sigil, so it is up to you how you proceed here. Best way to proceed is to experiment and see what works for you the best.

If you are going the "activate then get rid of" route, what people do is try to get a burst of energy out of themselves and a very clear focus to try and burn the sigil into their brains. Ways to do this include holding your breath until you're about to come, then flashing the sigil in front of your eyes before getting rid of it, or orgasming and on the time of orgasm flashing the sigil in front of your eyes in order to burn it into your mind and then get rid of it. You can also just meditate until you can see the sigil in your mind and then get rid of it.

To get rid of the sigil you can burn it (fire), dip it in water (water), or rip it up and burry it into the ground (earth). Some inventive people even draw sigils directly on steamy shower walls and then wipe them off, or put them in ketchup on their food and then eat them.

Poppets

A poppet is a doll made from material that you decide it should be made out of, normally meant to symbolize a person. If you want to keep someone safe, you can make, or buy a doll (I suggest making it, as it is more personal), add something of that person to the doll (for example you can put that persons hair into the doll, or their teeth, or their blood, or a part of their favourite piece of clothing), then swaddle it like a baby with the idea to cover them in a loving cocoon of safety. Some people even build nests (like a bird's nest), to further encase the doll and put protective or calming herbs with the doll (like lavender for example, to keep the person nice and cuddly). Now as long as the doll is safe, so is the person.

Similarly you can curse with poppets. This requires building a doll that's a lot more destructible, going through all those steps to make it connected to a person of your choice and then letting the elements take care of it, or using sharp objects to torture it. Your malice and energy goes a long way here. So for example, you can make a clay poppet of someone, then set it in a river and state that as a river takes the poppet and disintegrates it, so shall that person disintegrate with it. A straw poppet to put in the wind - as the wind rips the straw, so too shall that person be ripped apart. A regular fabric poppet to throw into the fire, or for you to stab parts of so that as you stab the person's part so too shall the real person feel pain.

Candle magic

Take a candle that has the colour associated with what you want to achieve. Red is good for love, black for death, white for protection, green for wealth and so on. Focus your intent on the candle. "I'm attracting prosperity, love, protection, etc", then light the candle. As the candle burns down the spell finishes itself. There are people that take visualization to the next level. For example if you want to keep someone tied to you, you would use two red candles and would visualize one being you and the next one your partner. You would press them together (some even tie them together with a string, but be careful as string is flammable, so fire safety first, or carve a human figure of you and your partner into them, or buy a candle shaped as two humans in a loving embrace) and visualize the desire burning bright in both of your hearts. Then you would light the candles and know that once they have burned down it will be so.

Fire is a destructive force, so you can also do a similar thing with someone and their lover that you don't like. Visualize their passion being so strong and so bright that as it burns it takes them down with it. That emotion is so big that they're literally burned up by it.

Similarly people use a similar method to destroy someone's connection to another person. This time you would set the candles apart, adorn them with symbolism that represents both people (one on one side, the other on the other) and draw a string between them. When the fire takes the string, or otherwise makes the string fall off one candle, the connection between these people will be broken.

There are so many other ways of working magic. Honey jars, sour jars, spirits, prayer, reciting book verses, chanting spells, so this is not the be all end all. This is merely inspiration to start your journey. Know that magic is easier when you're trying to affect something that does not have another person attached to it, so if this is your first time entering the world of magic, start with something small, like attracting opportunities in love, or wealth. That way you'll know what works for you and how you feel about it. Know that every method can be both protective and destructive. I wanted to give a couple of examples how the same system can be used to bring protection and harm. In general the deeper you'll go, the more trust you'll have in yourself, in what you can do and in the knowledge of what you're comfortable working with and how you can adapt the system that you're using to do what you want to do.
