New handguns can be added to roster without micro stamping.

New CRPA video explaining the 2 handgun roster cases.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1kgwRe2rlw&t=621s

handguns can be added to roster as long as they have loaded chamber indicator and magazine disconnect. seems like loaded chamber needs text " loaded when up" So any manufacture could retro fit firearms and submit for testing. I haven't seen any that currently meet requirements.

More info should come by April 14th. 2nd case will be put in front of a new panel of judges and we don't know which ones. These judges could rule in our favor. If it goes in our favor they suspect CA will request en banc which involves 11 judges reviewing the case.

loaded chamber needs text “ loaded when up”

Should make the text in “microstamp” sized font

That’s some r/maliciouscompliance and I’m here for it

I hope the super negligent gun buyer who needs a LCI to not squeeze one off in his buddies face speaks English.

sintax_949•

Don't give them ideas

Asticler•

I can’t wait until someone gets sued via the ADA by a class of blind people who are morally disgusted over the lack of brail.

How come colors are sufficient for traffic lights but we need words on LCI? Something something racism.

3
BurninNuts•

I don't think you will find a whole lot of people who are so blind that they need to use brail and are also gun owners.

I can at least expect the shield plus then. Since shield 1.0 have the LCI with text . And that slide works on the shield plus.

smith an wesson i imagine can make some of their firearms with lci and mag dissconnect if they want. they have had older models with both. think mp9c had both. probably not to hard to carry over

keltech p15 has both but doesnt have the text, they could probably easily change this

sig could do p266 models like x5, probably could do p923 as well as very similar to on roster p238

smith wesson has a 22lr pistol that they could add on if they added loaded chamber

rugger could probably add lci to mk4 22lr

the question is do these companies want to. are they even aware the law has changed.

James45acp•

Pleaseeee. I want a m&p9c so bad

Same with the Ruger mk4

Can pistols with sig-style LCIs be milled for optics? Physically and/or legally?

9
hope-luminescence•

In general modifications are allowed. Roster only affects FFL purchase or all manufacturing, not possession.

10
KnowTheName321OP•

lot of guns u could just buy a slide after purchase and change it or remove LCI and mag disconnect after purchase.

5
deltarho🅱️oint•

True, new slide is expensive though. I’m curious about removing a feature that’s specifically required by law for the item to be sold. Would it affect PPTs, all sorts of weird questions arise.

2
CakeArmy_MaxYoung Fudd•

No, it does not effect PPTs.

Aftermarket changes or modifications made to certain single shot pistols (i.e. changing upper receivers, connecting gas tubes) may be considered manufacturing these pistols into assault weapons.

CADOJ is not even confident enough in their own laws to definitively say whether or not turning a legally bought single shot into a semi is illegal. They put this "may be considered" here to scare us. I highly doubt altering any of the "safety" features these stupid laws require would have any legal repercussions.

throwoutdatrash69•

I don’t have time to watch right now unfortunately. But isn’t there something where 3 guns must be removed from the roster for each new one? Is that still a thing for these ones without micro stamping?

5

That's actually another case in the courts still. Pretty sure it will go away.

7
Holy_Schnikes•

My understanding is that regardless of the other court cases the drop 3 add 1 rule applied to handguns on the roster that didn't have the newly required "safety" features i.e. microstamping. So with microstamping officially dead (I think) we shouldn't be hemorrhaging handguns off the roster to add new ones.

2
SundayGunClub•

you are correct and the big reason why we won't see to may firearms added to the roster.

That law is no longer relevant, because the new gun added to the roster had to have all 3 features in order to remove old ones. Since new guns added to the roster don't have the 3 features, they cannot remove any old ones through that law.

11
throwoutdatrash69•

Okay sweet. Thank you for the clarification. I was worried they wanted people to add new guns with loaded chamber indicator and mag disconnect to get the roster even smaller, and then add back the micro stamping after the courts looks at it.

So we can buy glock 43x now?

2 weeks

release_the_waffle•

I don’t see Glock ever adding those features to any of their guns. It goes against their entire design philosophy.

S&W and SIG don’t seem to have an issue with LCI and mag disconnects though.

4
Supermeme1001•

whats the philosophy

1
release_the_waffle•

Gaston and company wanted to create a very minimalistic and simple, easy to use gun. The fewer things involved, the fewer things that could go wrong or break was one aspect of it.

The other aspect is that it was designed to be very easy and inexpensive to make compared to other pistols at the time.

They kind of finally broke that philosophy when they were competing with 320 for the MHS contract and added an external safety. But that was probably due to just how large the contract was, and maybe changed at the company. Previously they would just not submit a handgun if a military contract requested an external safety or mag disconnect or whatever. Gaston Glock is similar to Steve Jobs in a few ways, namely Glock genuinely believes his gun was/is perfect and you’re stupid if you can’t see that.

PapaPuff13•

So does the Cali 43x have them? Or do Leo’s not even have to have them?

3
LinechargeII•

LEOs and other exempt situations (people moving into the state, people with interfamilial transfers) do not have to worry about the roster period.

the LCI can actually be very small. CZ just puts a little red nub that comes up. The words do not need to be directly on the indicator, they can be next to it. On CZ guns it is right behind it and is engraved and says "loaded when up".

This is the regulation

(d)(1) A functioning chamber load indicator must meet all of the following conditions: (A) Explanatory text and/or graphics either incorporated within the chamber load indicator or adjacent to the chamber load indicator is/are permanently displayed by engraving, stamping, etching, molding, casting, or other means of permanent marking. (B) Each letter of explanatory text must have a minimum height of 1/16 inch. (C) The explanatory text and/or graphics shall be of a distinct visual contrast to that of the firearm. (D) The “loaded” indication, that portion of the chamber load indicator that visually indicates there is a round in the chamber, shall be of a distinct color contrast to the firearm. (E) Only when there is a round in the chamber, the “loaded” indication is visible on the firearm from a distance of at least twenty-four inches. When there is no round in the chamber, the “loaded” indication must not be visible. (F) The text and/or graphics and the “loaded” indication together inform a reasonably foreseeable adult user of the pistol, that a round is in the chamber, without requiring the user to refer to a user's manual or any other resource other than the pistol itself. (2) A functioning magazine disconnect mechanism must prevent the ammunition primer from being struck with a pull of the trigger or attempted pull of the trigger whenever a detachable magazine is not inserted in the pistol. https://govt.westlaw.com/calregs/Document/I298407805A1E11EC8227000D3A7C4BC3?viewType=FullText&transitionType=Default&contextData=%28sc.Default%29

But will manufacturers need to remove guns to add new ones?

1
LuciusQCincinna2s•

They could also not.

1
bOObies2x•

I'll be happy if I could get a Shield Plus at least. The 1.0 with its 7 round mag ain't enough these days.

1
VeterinarianLow547•

I hear ya. I have gotten into a lot of gun fights where I had to reload at least twice. Good thing I'm super fast at it now.

1
neuromorph•

is the 1 in 3 out rule still in place?

1
jewie27•

I removed the LCI on my old Shield and put in an Apex no-profile block. That shit blocked my sight picture.
