I struggle with reading bills and I just realized I've overpaid my hydro bill so much so that I'm owed about $800 and I'm now full of anxiety and want to cry

I hate reading bills. I don't understand it. Credit? Balance? What?! Just tell me in plain words what I owe.

I've been paying usually about $100 - $150 each month on my hydro bill. Seems like a lot, but the bills confuse me. It says "what you owe: $___", so I pay that. But usually I don't even look at the bill because I get confused. There are toooooo many numbers, too many things to look at.

I noticed today it says "what you owe: $760 cr".

I thought to myself how in the FUCK do I owe almost 800 to hydro????

I thought maybe I've been somehow under paying my bills, or that somehow my landlord is making me pay hydro for another unit.

So I went online to see past bills and they have this very clear section organized by payments recieved and bills issued. Just two numbers each month. And that's how I noticed I was over paying by So Much all these months and finally understood what 'cr' means on my bill.

I could use that $800!! I'm not swimming in cash. I really hope they issue me a cheque but now I'm full of anxiety anticipating that I'm going to have to fight for this cheque. I want someone else to make this call for me. Their phone line isn't open yet and the waiting is making my anxiety worse. I just want to cry. I feel like an idiot.

Why would they write "you owe 760 cr" ??? Why not write I owe $0 and have another line that says I have a credit of $760??
