New to the game, curious should i mine or salvage for monies?

So im new, eventually ill be getting into everything, but for right now what would be a great way to make money. So far, ive found a wormhole in my system that takes me to some asteroids that ive been mining gneiss for isogen for a couple million isk here and there. Its seems pretty licrative but are there any better ways for making some cash to buy new ships and what not? Thanks..
