I also have some Beretta OUs. But after watching some YouTube, I am very curious about / jealous of the UGB.
I'm personally skeptical. It just came in today. It's been a dream gun of mine purely because of how whacky it is... but man is it complicated.
But at 1.8k CAD... hard to say no lol.
They’re a steaming pile of shit from a reliability perspective… but I fucking love weird guns, so I’ve been shopping to find one for a while now.
Up there with the Boberg XR9 / Bond Arms Bullpup 9 for “ stupid action design,”so of course I love it.
For those who, like me, initially wondered “why on earth would Beretta ever design this stupid thing,” I can provide the answer.
It’s a Beretta designed to compete with Cosmi (also in Italy, and the maker of fine guns that I hope to someday be able to afford), and it is designed to give a recoil-absorbing autoloading action for some countries in Europe where auto-loading shotguns are otherwise banned, for use in UT/OT/bunker. Because it’s technically a break action, not an autoloader. Please don’t ask me why, the logic on that is up there with “shoestrings are machine guns.”
Once you have all the tactacool guns you want. Weird guns are the only thing that keeps you in the hobby.. that’s why I’ve switched to WW1 and WW2 guns.. some of them are just so ridiculous and complicated they are just so much fun to play with
You’re the one that bought it on cnd gun nuts! Missed it, been looking for one for ever, you got a hell of a deal
Yes, yes I am. Sorry!
I have two of them (30" with around 20k shells through it and 28" that I'm not the original owner of), you'll love it.
The only bad things i hear are online from people that haven't ever owned one.
Love to hear it. Super excited to take it out!
My dream is for Beretta to fix/update the UGB25, and re-release it. Hope yours works semi-reliably, because they are awesome to shoot!
Figured I'd reply now that Ives tested it decently. 0 malfunctions, shoots like a dream. It's my primary skeet gun now.
that UGB belongs in a museum! lol seriously though... I had a guy offer me $6,000 for a broken one that we had at the NYC Gallery a few years ago, but boss said I couldn't sell it
It's ridiculous how much they used to go for, and how much people are still willing to pay.
I really wish it didn't flop the way it did, it's such a neat derp of a gun.
Ya it's a very interesting gun with a legitimately great concept. Especially considering how much trapshooters still scrutinize semi-autos for throwing shells towards other shooters.. I'm honestly surprised no one else has tried to develop a semi-auto that ejects downwards.
One question I've always had- is if the ejected shell hits your feet/legs... as I'd find that super distracting!
The BPS ejects downwards AND forwards to avoid that. If my BPS was throwing shells at my feet I'd sell it so fast haha.
I'm sure someone's gotta be trying to develop one though... it'd sure be neat.
Cool! First time hearing this- thanks for teaching me something new 🙏🏻 :) have fun out there

Beretta wasn’t the first.
You just can’t afford the first.

IIRC, they start at $90K.

I’ve shot them, it’s not straight down, it’s down and forward.
The problem there is that if you’re shooting FITASC rules, you have to round up all your spent rounds and bin them BEFORE you leave the station or you get a yellow card.
I’ve shot a Butler shotgun. Downward ejecting semiauto. Only held two shots but the barrel was underneath the magazine tube. It had a reverse trigger which so different to me that I fired both shots accidentally.
Does your UGB actually function? I've heard decidedly... mixed things about their reliability.
I'll find out this weekend! All I can say is I can totally see why this could struggle with reliability. The struggled just attaching the barrel to the stock.
Good video for people interested Beretta UGB
UGB… you don’t see that everyday! Cool stuff.
For real! I've seen maybe 3 or 4 used ones for sale in the past 3 years here in Canada. Granted I wasn't searching that hard... here's to hoping it works!
Yea I honestly never knew they were even imported into Canada. These are definitely rare here!
Now you need a 694! 😄
The A400 xcel multitarget is the next one on my list haha.
From top to bottom:
Beretta 682 Gold E XTrap, 12ga, 30"
Beretta 686 S (not sporting, 3.5" chamber), 12ga w/ 20ga Briley Companions, 30"
Beretta UGB25 Xcel, 12ga, 30"
Did you shoot the ugb yet? What are your thoughts
Ran Federal, Rio, and Challenger with 0 problems. Took me a hot second to figure out how to assemble it but now it's dead easy.
Loving the gun, I don't think I'll be selling it.
