Hot take: Kansas City is the real gateway to the west and St. Louis is the real soccer capital of America

Let’s call a thing a thing, people. You know both are true and yes, I am willing to suffer your slings and arrows upon this mound

Meh. St. Louis can be the amateur soccer capital and Kansas City can call itself the professional soccer capital. Winning every professional soccer championship trophy in every national us league all in the same year was pretty cool but it was like almost 10 years ago at this point. Everyone everywhere else thinks the assertion is stupid anyway.

St. Louis is the gate way to the west. Kansas City was more like the foyer to the west.

I’d flip the script on you there with regards to foyer vs gateway. How did people go west? Trails. How many trails started in St. Louis? None. California trail? Oregon trail? Santa Fe Trail? Mormon trail?

Sorry for popping off but it’s a burr under my saddle

St Louis destroyed thousands of homes to build that arch and park. All for what? To be known as the “gateway of the west.” You are right, it’s bs, and KC deserves title more. On the soccer side, my counter would be that in a few years KC is hosting the World Cup, and by then maybe your opinion will change?

Kansas City isn’t the Gateway to the West, because Kansas City is in “the West,” and even more so back when the phrase was coined.
