Stabbed straight down in the middle like king Arthur’s sword.

But only with house knives .

In the wood block or directly in the counter?

Yes.

Both if you have the strength of a king.

What if I have the blood of kings? Are we not the princes of the universe?

A... with the Blade facing away from you

I second this comment

Because the blade is going to suddenly attack you?

Well if your knife is sharp like it should be you want to avoid accidentally hitting the blade and cutting yourself... and yes just in case it attacks too

I grab the knife by the handle, not the blade.

Ya well you ever been in the weeds and go over to help a cook but he can’t keep his station organized for shit and there’s food scraps a couple dirty towels a sanny rag and some dish in the process of being plated and you go to grab said plate and bam blade edge cuts you cus the knife was hidden under the sorry excuse for a cooks mess?

Ideally the knife would be on a linen/towel just above the board. Otherwise A with the blade facing away is pretty standard. Whatever though, the main thing is you always put it in the same place.

B or D depending on which is your cutting hand.

But really, you should have a butchers belt/smock. Keeps the knife outta the way, but its always at arms length.

Unused knifes are placed in your pocket ofc

C vertically down with about an inch hanging off the edge and a hotel pan full of scraps on top

A, B, or C depending on your dominant hand. Edge and point away from wherever people are. My preference is A and edge out.

A. Edge out.

It's furthest away from getting bumped and falling, and the edge out prevents cuts in case of shenanigans.

Anything but C, I prefer A but B and D are also acceptable

I like A with the edge facing away. Sometimes I will do B with the edge facing in.

next to the board for me never on the board for me

If left handed D, if right handed B.
