Infotainment lag time

Anyone have tips or tricks to speed up the infotainment screen. It takes an inordinate amount of time to 'read' a touch for a button and then process the request.

Might see what version of firmware you are running and you are behind. You'll use a Navigation Updater program on a PC to download and create a flash key (64GB), but this updates more than navigation. The interface gets little tweaks and new features sometimes. Might smooth your experience.

Just to chime in here- but do the firmware updates even work, especially on Niro models that don’t have onboard navigation? I wanted to update mine- followed the process on the website/app to download the massive update and save it on a properly formatted usb drive… but it just says “no supported files” when popping it into the usb port in the car.

Tried multiple update downloads, multiple usb sticks, etc. just figured it wasn’t possible?

I've done multiple updates without a problem. The app is supposed to handle formatting the key and writing data to the key. Are you selecting it as your target device? If you format it and run the app, do files appear on the key when it says it's completed? Are you using the center USB port in the car?

Yeah, using that app, I let it format the key, selected it as the destination and the files are being written to the key. There are I think 14 files on the key, 34GB in size.
As noted, I tried this with the most recent update- March 2023- then I went through it again with the November 2022 update, and had the same results.

I am using the center USB port, when I plug it in the infotainment screen does say "reading USB" and a moment later it says "no supported files".

I will say I am on a Mac, not a PC- but according to the website, Mac is supported as well, as is the "exFAT" formatting that Macs do on the USB key. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to get my hands on a Windows device and try it from there to see if it possibly does different formatting, or even different files that may work for me.

Hmmm, I don't have a Mac. Maybe Google that, you probably aren't the only one this has happened to.

There is one other thing to check. There's two ways to look up the correct update with the app: by car model and year, or by firmware name. The instructions show pictures of where to find an about screen in the car. You'll type the model of the stereo into a box that will filter down to a matching result. I think the year/model list is a little confusing, seems like there's different versions of the same car out there and you might be selecting a different vs. of the same year as yours so they don't match and it rejects the update.

Just updated it and it was at least a year out of date. Seems a little more peppy too. The real test will be in the morning when I'm waiting for everything to boot!

Hell yeah.

It annoys me in my 2022 that if I click the driver name and then click the media button it takes way too long to start something on Bluetooth.

I have no idea why it turns it off every time the car turns on again

It must be just your infotainment, mine reacts just fine. I have a 2022, do you have a 2023?

2022

I guess I should have asked if you have the newly redesigned Niro? In other countries, the 2022 is the redesigned one, and in the U.S. the 2023 is the redesigned one. I don't know why they couldn't just say 2023 across the board on the redesigned Niro, no matter what country you live?

Ahh, gotcha. We have a 2022 in the US. It's not the redesign.

Same here, I'm in the U.S. as well. It gets confusing when you're talking to people from all over the world, and have to ask if it's the redesigned version cause you can't just state the model year lol.

My '20 EX is similarly slow. Do you have the EX or premium?

When is the last time you disconnected the 12v battery? I find doing this once a month or so greatly increases the performance of the electronic components.

Never. I'll add that to the things I'll give a try. Thanks!
