Issue with the show #648

Spoiler

Ow boy the writing. I know i complained before but here is yet another issue from s5. >! How do the prisoners survive? It has been established with mt. Weather that normal people can't survive the ambiental radiation. We know the grounders manage through generations of evolution, same for the people on the station; generations of death. But the prisoners were frozen! No adaptation, no generational evolutionary resistance... what the hell screen writers?! !<

I think they survived because they were also exposed to radiation in whatever rock they were mining from. They mined in asteroids, so I'd assume there was no atmosphere there and since this practice action took place even before the first apocalypse, there was a good time to natural selective hit.

Yeah, I don't remember exactly, but there was definitely an explanation given in-show.

They minde in auites and the established rule was that it takes generations, not just exposure, to become immune. There was 0 natural selection, it's a penal colony and they were all there since before the first apocalypse

I used to think they survived because they'd been given nightblood. But then S7 says they weren't given nightblood. My head spins!

They weren't, for sure

I mean they were in space same as the Ark, except they were alive for even longer.

Real logic: you're absolutely right.

The 100 logic: Frozen or not - they have been in space for many decades and got somehow adapted.

I'm in season 6 out of 7. 0 explanation so far

Yes I misunderstood the post.

Yeah I'm actually thrown off right now, thinking about how vulnerable the prisoners were to radiation 🤔🤔🤔

Aggravating_Bike_612Sangedakru•

Didn't they receive shots of some sort 🤔 Or weren't most of them dying of radiation related issues already? And some of them were on some medication They were looking for ways to survive and Abby tried Hmm

JeffryRelatedIssueOP•

Nah, pulmonary abscess from breathing the fuel thing.

🤔 damn Note taken. This sucks 😕 They sacrificed some of the prisoners too knowing they don't heal from radiation. I think they were frozen until they were able to work under radiation, maybe after receiving enhancements from Ally 2.0.

Well ally was never able to reach them hmm

The show is... not very well written overall 😆 going to finish it but damn is it full of holes and has some terrible characters like clark. I'm just glad there are others like raven murphy, monty, jordan etc.

The earth wasn’t irradiated anymore. It was survivable again. No one could survive praimfaya, not even those born in space that’s why everyone sought shelter. After 5 years, it was survivable again, for everyone.

But how does that make sense given that it was a worst nuclear event than the first apocalypse? They needed centuries to recover from that one

3
Melodic-Pizza-8425•

No, they needed centuries to recover from McCreary dropping the hytholodium bomb. That’s what drove everyone back to space and to planet alpha/sanctum. Praimfaya was a result from the first apocalypse. Maybe that’s what cleared the radiation up for good ( after 5years)

JeffryRelatedIssueOP•

No no, i ean the first apocalypse, the one caused by Ali. The second one was a chain reaction from reactor meltdowns who had even more devastating effects than the first. How is it possible that the first took centuries for the radiation level to drop to livable conditions (and the earth was still lush) while the second one that leaved the earth completly scorched only took 5 years to clear off to an even greater degree than it was before. It doesn't add up at all

Maybe season 7 has the answer your looking for. I want to explain but idk if you’ve gotten that far yet..

Yeah, I’ve argued this same point extensively. There’s really no explanation that makes any sense at all. Those prisoners absolutely should not have been able to survive the radiation levels on Earth.

The writers just ignored that issue because it was inconvenient for their plot.
