Anyone tested whirlwind hits per second?

Barbarian

How many hits per second does Whirlwind do baseline vs. a single target? Does it depend on the weapon used, like 0.9sec 2h mace vs 1.1secdual wield 1h attack speed, though it's a spell. Trying to calculate uptime from pressure point against bosses

It does hit more frequently with higher attack speed

No, it doesn't.

It just drains energy faster and spins faster. It could be bugged, but people have frame counted and it doesn't increase hit rate.

Even when tested with +80% attack speed with 2h weapon aspect the tickrate stays the same.

Huh. Is that a bug? You’re saying the attack speed of a weapon (1h vs 2h) affects the frequency of hits, but any additional attack speed from stats does not? If it is intended, then does attack speed benefit whirlwind in another way?

What’s cool is you actually spin faster because the hits are based on when the weapon connects with enemies

Technically you could "count" the hits. The game and animations literally fit in D4. To be more specific, you hit with any attack in the game where the model (the weapon) is. It's not like you have a circle around you and it hits (ticks) with the entire circle, instead it hits any time the weapon hits with the animation your target. So you hit around you, but only were your weapon is.

Edit: here you can see in motion what I tried to explain. (old and new versions)

so this would mean the faster you the faster you can be hitting things

The developers literally made a video showing hit mechanics of D4 with whirlwind being the main one they showcase.

Go watch it.
