You can get mochi cakes at Asian supermarkets and st Pierre’s sushi? Is that the same thing? They’re the ones with the filling inside

Mister Donut in Japan started them years ago, called pon de ring (itself inspired by a Brazilian bread). I haven’t had it from the OG but have had them in Hawaii (MoDo if you’re ever there, they have so many different flavours) and can confirm they are strongly addictive. Something about the bite and the chewiness.

I did try look at vids on how to make my own mochi donuts, but then yet to even make regular donuts..would prefer to just buy em too so guess I am off to Sylvia Park too 🤣🙃...ps. I have made Hawaian butter mochi 😍few times though yummo seems easier recipe than donuts lol

Try Suraya Donuts. They have done them in the past by the look of it. They intermittently make boxes of interesting Indonesian and other Asian donuts for order via Facebook and pickup. Haven’t tried them but they look really interesting.

Yeah the Sporkful had an episode from Gastropod (I think) on their feed. Was about food textures, there was a bit about Mochi Donuts and I found myself wondering if anywhere in AK had them...
Oooh this sounds interesting! Gonna check it out! It's literally the texture I wanna try. I've been super into the mochi ice creams lately so I feel like the donuts would be amazing!
