Is my higher self sabotaging my ego's attempts to exercise free will?

I have applied for at least 30 jobs in the past three months and I cannot get an interview. I'm super qualified and there is really no explanation for it.

Which brings me here: I genuinely believe my Higher Self is sabotaging my choice to work in a corporate job and wants me to do something more meaningful/spiritual.

By way of background, I have no other talents so the idea of throwing away my tertiary education (which I haven't repaid) and over a decade of experience, and taking a $250K pay cut, to pursue a different career path, is out of the question.

So, I'm consciously choosing materialism. And I'm pretty sure my higher self is supposed to accept this position, and not interfere when I excersise free will. Thoughts?
