Is the Topstone 4 good for a beginner?

Haven't ridden a bike in over a decade and looking for an all-around versatile bike in the $1k USD price range. After alot of research I landed on the Cannondale Topstone 4. I'm also looking at the Canyon Grizl 6 AL, but the Topstone is carried in my local bike shop. It seems like it can handle some gravel and off-road terrain as well as pavement and looks comfortable. I'm not interested in super long road-biking competitions, a ton of off-road stuff, or technical mountain bike trails, just something good at a bit of everything for fitness, some "adventure" biking and city commutes. I originally planned on hybrids like the Trek FX 3, but feel like it would be too bumpy off-road and I'd outgrow it on pavement so switched to gravel bikes. Do you recommend the Topstone 4?
