Budget build CPU/GPU dilemma

Build Help

1440p build

Ryzen 5 5600 + RX 6800 XT

or

Ryzen 5 7600 + RX 6750 XT

Same price to the dollar for each combo and appropriate parts (ram, mobo, case, etc..)

I know the 6800 XT combo will have higher framerates now, but the AM5 allows a long upgrade path (hopefully as long as AM4 has been.

Thoughts?

imo AM5 upgrade path is a bit overstated. I dont see a lot of B350 motherboards or 2666MT/s ram being used all the way to 5800x3D, it happens but rarely, people tend to upgrade anyway.

Yeah, I haven’t built in a really long time. Guilty of laziness. I did watch some analytical videos though, and the difference in gaming between 3600 DDR4 and 6000 DDR5 seems neglible at 1440p atleast. No idea if it matters at 4k, but I don’t plan to game at 4k. So I’m not sure if AM5 is really necessary for a good while. I just wanted opinions.

higher the resolution, the less CPU and ram speed matters. i'd just get Ryzen 5600, itll be good for few more years, can even be upgraded to 5800x3D later as the used CPUs start being sold in large numbers. Let AM5 simmer and mature more, there are quite a few issues with it still, just like it was with Ryzen 1000 gen, it took to Ryzen 3000-5000 for the platform to really shine.

For me it's easily the 5600 + rx6800xt. As of yet AMD has said AM5 through 2025. Tentatively we'll see AM6 in 2026.
