Game is stuck at 15 fps in Single Player

Question

Is there some option or the like that would have the game behave this way? No matter what I change in the settings, I could run the game at best or worst graphics and it will still keep 15 fps, but only in Single Player, works perfectly well in multiplayer.

Anything to check?

That's odd. From the context I get wich is limited I would say your pc can't handle hosting single player but is fine playing on a world that is hosted seperate. Did you put thether to max maybe?

I also read that some graphics cards do voodoo stuf with ark and are just not really compatible with that game.

Could you share your system specs? It could help eliminating some problems.

GPU: 1060 6GB

CPU: i7 4770k

32GB of ram

Running the game on Windows 10.

I ran heavily modded single player instances a year or 2 ago and they had no issue whatsoever I'd like to add. I also just tried running the game on non-dedicated as opposite to simply single player as well (yes tether to max) but I still have this issue. I changed the graphics to the minimum ark can go as well and I'm still stuck to 15 fps, when I switch to a multiplayer session (on Lost Island known for its laggines nonetheless) I get a whopping 55 fps.

I have no clue what is causing this...

This is very strange though there are complaints about ark single player and non dedicated that say it would split CPU recources or RAM unintelligently.

I see multiple people having this problem and it seems to be a problem the game causes without a fix for the hardware used. It's certainly not the power of your hardware because according to the specs it should be able to run it just fine.

I would try uninstalling mods one by one see if it makes a difference. i have seen people write about some mods that impair your performance so this is where I would start.

Maybe even try running it vanilla, just to check if it isn't a mod that's causing this.

If you're looking for a game to play solo i run dedicated servers just for me and i wouldn't mind some company and someone else to kill off low levels. They run 24/7 and it's not nitrado or anything. Just a seperate server on a vm running at home. Feel free to DM me if you would like to start a journey there. I run the cluster with a join exclusive list so it's just for me because i dont trust people in ark. I am on a playthrough to do all the story maps.

About cpu and gpu usage, I noticed that when pausing the game in single player the GPU runs at 99% and the cpu at around 70%, while when not paused the fps drops to 15 and the GPU runs at 40%, the CPU at 25% or so. The game also loads terrain and dino textures properly only when paused.

Thanks for the offer however I might not spend enough time to make it worth your while, especially with the sizeable list of mods I'd be using haha.

I tried running the game vanilla btw, same issues apply.

So just to be clear this is heavily molded sp? Not trying to host?

If you go to an untouched map does it still lag? Check several simple things that are known to kill servers. Animals left on breed can stack up and leave a big visual lag to the point It can kill a sever if the breed settings are too high. Write down your setting and switch to default to see if that helps. ( you can copy paste the .ini too) Do a wild dino wipe and be sure to go around and clean up the beehives. Used to be a bug where beehives would respawn on wipes but not be deleted. Causing them to stack and generate issues.

This is heavily modded sp yeah. I tried without any mod and on a different map, the first load is perfectly fine and runs at about 50 fps but if I close the game and reopen it the game will run at 15 fps no matter what, no more no less, even if I barely do anything on the map. Changing graphics doesn't make it worse nor better, it just hovers between 14 and 16 fps. I tried a wild dino wipe as well but it doesn't seem to help.

By just this it sounds like one of your mods is causing the issue. I'd yest like this adding one mod back at a time until you fi d the problem one. Could be a specific combination too

Some mods are not well built for non-dedicated, I had a furniture mod that ran well in solo but when I did non-dedicated I had around 10-15

I highly recommend renting your own servers.

You get more stable servers and is less demanding on your computer.
