This is great for people who need it, but when the government is offering this to people on assistance or veterans who are poor and they would rather not have to help them anymore, kinda crosses a line
Be realistic, even in the best countries in the world "life" people on assistance - it's dark hell suffering from poverty
Assisted suicide shouldn’t be a thing until we’ve made sure that we’ve assisted LIVING in every fucking way possible.
Everyone has the right to bodily autonomy but it’s not autonomy when people are choosing it because the state would rather they were dead than alive.

I agree with you in theory but there are people suffering today who need relief now. But I do agree with the point you’re making- so many people are suicidal because we’ve failed to protect them as a society.
Define every way possible, my father in law died of cancer a couple years ago and there was a chance of survival but it was slim. By the end he was literally begging us to bring his gun to the hospital so he can shoot himself
My dad in law just refused the second round of chemo. He was 83, food tasted like crap, he was in nauseous pain, he was done.
One huge problem is that, in the USA, cancer bankrupts whole families in an average of 18 months. So one way out is...
Suicide should never be the answer to a bill. This economic model must be destroyed.

I understand. I struggled with suicidal ideation for decades to varying degrees. I honestly don't even know how many times I tried to overdose, which by all means I shouldn't have survived several times. I had a friend who I met the psych ward and she and I got a hotel room and decided to try together. Despite the couple grams of heroin and bottle of benzos, I woke up at 6:30 the next morning, beside my friend who never woke up again. That certainly didn't help the depression any, and it got way worse before it got better. For several years, the only reason I didn't do something more extreme is that it's one thing to survive a drug overdose, but quite another to survive a gunshot to the head or falling off a bridge or building and I didn't want to end up even worse off than when I started. And now I haven't been suicidal in five years, even though both my boyfriend and girlfriend died four months apart from each other, I lost my arm a year later and now I'm in kidney failure. But I'm still better than I was emotionally. It's not even close.
For several decades of my life, there was not a single day that I did not regret that I did not commit suicide while still at school. Life is of suffering. Dumb survival at the lower levels of Maslow's pyramid is worse than murder. I'm tired.
I do not want you to suffer my beautiful fellow. I wish only the best for my brothers and sisters. I understand that you have suffered and trust me I have too. We must all work together to alleviate suffering and attain happiness.

Happiness does not exist And anyway it's won't help anymore- life is over.
There hasn't been a single day in my entire life that I haven't regretted not committing suicide in high school. Every day is suffering.
Okay, there were a few happy hours - on LSD and psilocybin mushrooms. And it's definitely not worth 43 years of suffering.
And ahead - poverty (already), old age, illness, weakness and death. I don't even want to swear anymore

Disability payments are about $1400 (my math is wrong because it’s been a few months since I read into this). The average cost of a one bedroom apartment in Canada is $1710.
It doesn’t have to be deliberate. We have a pretty nasty country.
World is a dark dystopia full of suffering from poverty, whichever way you turn this dark planet.

This piece of dog shit masquerading as the author of the article writes that life is a gift and you now are in a slave debt.
I didn't ask to be born. I do not need the "gift" of suffering from birth, violence, want, old age, sickness, infirmity, poverty, death. Take that "gift" back, you fucking sadists.
No life - no suffering. Living beings are subject to suffering. It should be fairly clear that promoting life is not okay.
I love Canada. I want euthanasia.
They want people like you to end it because the establishment doesn't want people rebelling. Give your life meaning don't end it.
The poor don't rebel or threaten the establishment. When you don't even have enough money for food, you're not up to global social problems. In my head, like a heartbeat, only one thought is pounding: "no money, no money, no money." "What will I eat tomorrow? What happens if I get sick!"
Stupid survival on the lower steps of Maslow's pyramid is pitch-black hell and worse than murder.
for establishment, an educated and prosperous middle class is dangerous - people are wellbeing enough to think not only about their own survival
Society should be helping who struggle and not encouraging them to jump.
I don't want struggle, I want end all suffering.
We are discussing people with terminal illness, facing cognitive decline. and/or in unbearable physical pain. Not people passing though despair who haven't fully explored therapy.
Suffering from disease, suffering from poverty, suffering from violence, and so on - all this can be unbearable. The essence is the same in all cases.
No life - no suffering
You check out now you'll only come back. You came here for a reason, figure it out.
Reading this article allowed me to come up with a phrase characterizing her:
shit that was eaten and then vomited up.
In the article, the author argues that the suffering of the poor is not important, so they should not have the right to end their suffering. It's perfectly clearly what the author will never give me enough money to keep me from suffering poverty, but wherein he is trying to prevent me from ending my suffering by euthanasia.
All these hypocritical scum who oppose suicide want is for people to continue suffering.
Everybody is like “ooh government won’t help me government won’t help me” i’m so tired of it, when are we going to go full french revolution? I think most of the Americas needs a clean slate
We don't have governments or leaders, guys, we have Ponzi schemes and middle-managers.

I am 100% in favour of assisted voluntary suicide. But I strongly fear the US would swiftly turn it into involuntary euthanasia, probably for profit. There's literally nothing they can't and won't corrupt with the profit motive
I wonder how many "new jobs" it would create?
Has it happened yet?
MaiD is available in several U.S. states already.
