Reformed stepping out of Tokyo international Airport
What kind of weird-ass rule is it that you have to sign up pre-season with the roster you want to send to a LAN before you even know if you're anywhere close to qualifying? And why wouldnt you be able to change it as long as visas are in place? What if your 6th man and a main roster player cant make it, you just cant bring a sub? Crazy ass rule
It probably has a lot more to do with Japan’s visa rules than Riot’s own wants and desires.
If true, it seems like a mistake to host the tournament in a country that causes active roadblocks to attendees since it effectively can impact the integrity of the competition. We only get 3 international events per year. It would be a shame for lineups filled with subs to ruin months of qualifications.
Prepare yourself for champions then. Lots of subs for the emea teams. Usa visas for russians… ye good luck.
You honestly seem to be almost happy at this prospect. I've seen you make similar comments so many times.
Yeah but literal war sanctions are different than just having a country that is being tough visa policies for everyone. Regardless until things settle I feel like you hold it where the most teams can participate at full strength
You typing using ur cock? Most countries will have these issues not just Japan. Hell even NA has it.
Brazil doesn't, lmfao.

You need a visa to work in Japan though.
When esports teams have “visa issues” with their players it’s because they need work visas, not because they can’t get tourism visas. Marved, a Canadian, doesn’t need a visa to visit the US, but when stories broke that he “got his visa just in time” the week he subbed in for Tenz, it was because he got his work visa.

I mean it's probably specifically for visas - visa applications take a while so they ask teams for the players they want visas for ahead of time. If Demon1 wasn't even signed when they submitted, it makes sense he wasn't included. Now it's too late to apply and get one in time for Tokyo.
Japan also has a really hard visa process so you really have to submit super early to have a chance
I'm surprised riot doesn't have a backdoor system for this type of stuff. I've never in my life heard of visa issues for the MLB/NFL/World Cup/WBC/Olympics/any other sport that requires international travel. It blows my mind how common visa issues are in Valorant
Riot doesn’t have the clout to really get any special access. Valorant is a tiny fraction as popular as the other events

esports players always need visas for international tournaments. Not sure the precise legal reason, but likely because it's for "work" and not leisure.
Crazy that we are even considering that EG can make Tokyo
Loud? C9? One of those will stay at home so EG can go, very generous of them
3 Na teams can go
EG really thinks it has a shot at beating NRG to Tokyo.

Reallly hope they can work with riot to fix it if this is true. If not, hopefully they can make a BCJ roster work. On the bright side if they make Tokyo that means they also make Champs, and Demon1 will definitely get to be there since it’s in the US.
But realistically, Tokyo is not the goal for this squad. It’s champs. They’re looking like they could aim for that fourth slot if they really punch up, I’m not sure they’re in a spot where they beat Loud C9 or NRG yet. I’d love to be proven wrong obviously though!
Just watched them 2-1 NRG, Demon1 was nuts all match, hopefully they can make champs :D
So this aged well
and as I said I’m so happy to have been proven wrong! So satisfying to see everything click with this roster as a long time fan
I think whether or not demon1 can make it is the least of their worries tbh
I think there is a 10% chance they steal the third seed.
What else do they have to be worried about?
Actually making it.
Actually making playoffs first*
Who would you rate above EG rn? Its hard to rate any team other than C9 and LOUD firmly above EG
C9 LOUD NRG Furia all clear eg for sure, with lev sen and 100t being more of a tossup
NRG Furia 100T.
thats fucking wierd and I hope they can change it. They are nothing without Demon1.

damn, that actually sucks. i’m actually an eg believer too
Shit, this is big. Whose gonna play brimstone on fracture if he doesn’t make Tokyo??
That's insane lol
lucky for him he won't need to worry about that
💀
bro had the receipts lmao
So even if they make it, EG can't bring their best player? OOF
They don't
he says in the video that they can bring bcj, wdym
He said best player
They were losing when bcj is on the team lilbro
they were losing when demon1 was not on the team lil bro*
just because the team improved with a set of changes doesnt mean every change in the set was ideal.
Sry if i phrase that poorly.

so even if eg make it they cant even have their best player? 😑
If they win against mibr - they need to get it expedited
truly the dankest timeline if EG becomes the FPX Masters Reykjavik 2022 of Masters Tokyo 2023.

So now that EG qualify for Tokyo, why can't Demon1 go with them? I mean if it's cause he wasn't on the roster earlier. Wouldn't that also mean that Runi and Jake can't go with C9 if they qualify they joined C9 later than Demon1 did EG.
Seems like having Masters in NA and Champs in Tokyo would have been the better move for Riot then. Or probably just waiting another year for Tokyo
Now this is where the genius of the EG 10 man roster kicks in
I mean isn't this an oversight? Shouldn't they apply for their whole roster to go to Tokyo instead of just 5, if they actually planned on playing them?
He says he wasn't on the team at the time.
Every team probably submitted a roster of more than 5 players. They have subs for emergencies.
I presumed that he meant he wasn't on the starting team at the time, but he wasn't even signed yet?
So roster locks didn't coincide with this process? If that's true, that makes Riot look bad then. Why would you allow teams to still add players to their roster when they can't bring them to Tokyo? I still think he meant he wasn't on the starting roster, but maybe I'm wrong.
I mean, this is probably a non-issue. Riot's going to allow all the teams/rosters who make it to Tokyo, to attend. He described the current state of things as he knows it, not that Riot told him he can't attend.
Visa issues are a different thing, and may be outside Riot's control.

there is a limit to the amount of subs you can have i believe. so they couldnt submit all 10 either way
Asking EG management to plan ahead is a tall task. Those bozos breed incompetence.
He literally said he wasn't on the team at the time. Did you even watch the clip?
My point still stands? they are incompetent lmao. Horrible people too
people clowning on EG in here but this surely implies that runi and jakee can't go to Tokyo either, right? they joined C9 several weeks into the season. wouldn't this mean NA's best hope team is kinda fucked?
Riot won't fuck teams over that hard. They'll probably be added to the roster list in-situ
