New England Road Trip

Taking a road trip to New England. Any places I should check out. So far I have Boston, New Hampshire, and Burlington on the itinerary.

Also, how are the police up north? I’ll be travelling with out of state tags from a Appalachian state that has a shitty reputation with Yankees. I’ll also be travelling with black family members. They’ve told me cops there are unfriendly to those with melanin. I’ve only travelled up there as a white guy sooooo any truth to this? or places to avoid?

Don’t roast me too much.

Yeah I was thinking there. I’ve been to Grand Lake Stream to fish. Arcadia was also pretty cool. bar Harbor was like Boston North though. Kinda cool in a kitschy way. Moxie Soda is ass though.

I90 in MA is one of the most heavily-policed stretches of highway in the country, but besides that I wouldn't worry too much about your tags or family members. Small town RI would be the only places I would begin to worry about racist cops.

Between Boston and NH I would visit Salem, Gloucester, or Manchester-by-the-Sea. Based on Burlington already being on your itinerary, I would guess Salem would be your speed.

If you're going to burlington you should hype up going to the World's Tallest Filing Cabinet to everyone you're going with, saying it'll be like the eight wonder of the world, etc then watch their face when they actually see it. That's always a fun time

If you're into breweries, there's a lot of good ones but I don't find breweries fun.

My #1 advice is to see nature here, it's beautiful. If your group is up for it, go on a nice hike. There's many great hikes in NE, and Vermont has good ones. Check out AllTrails for some ideas of where to go

Alternatively, if you're going in the summer when it's warm out (like June or later) seriously go check out a swimming hole. Triple Buckets is a great little swimming hole pretty close to Burlington and it's beautiful and a fun way to swim and maybe get a cheeky cliff jump in. Check out this image for an idea of what it's like: https://vermontexplored.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/warren-falls-vermont-swimming-hole.jpeg

Porfido's market and deli, Littleton NH.

I would be interested to know what you are expecting in Burlington, not a lot going on there apart from the college.

The Hudson River Valley and the town of Hudson are both really fun places to spend a weekend with family
