Would it be considered a back step going into screw machines from CNC?

QUESTION

Came here hoping some guys that have been around a while can give me some solid advice. I have the opportunity to jump ship and go into a small local shop Thats just a 2 man crew running 6-7 acme gridley scre machines. Pays about $1 less, vacation and 401k are better, insurance is comparable. Its VERY old school there, not a computer in the place. Shops owned by a larger company abour an hour away, so the 2 guys that work there run the show themselves, everything from setup to maintenance (fix everything in the shop, clean toliets, and scheduling runs) Currently a mill guy at a local production shop. Pays well but thats about it. Very poor atmosphere as far as management, us floor guys have fun but are very undervalued and unappreciated. We are slowly trying to get up to speed as far as modern technology/equipment but thats a slooow process But with that said... im struggling with the thought of taking the spot at the screw machine shop and it being a "downgrade" from what im doing now, as far as it being an obsolete trade now days. I dont know much about that world so maybe im off on that. Ive only ever seen super old screw machines though. I definitely think i could learn ALOT about being mechanically inclined in general from the old heads id be working with. Ive gotten told numerous times to find an old guy follow his footsteps, and pick his brain. I think this is that opportunity, im just not sure if its going to help me get further later, assuming if i leave there itll be back to CNC. Anyone with some insight feel free to drop your opinion because I AM LOST.
