Products for Predators - A street MCP contribution, like regular MCP, but on the street.

Saw an MCP prompt that was, to my knowledge, unused. Apologies if I have simply missed the post but I am going by the Master post.

Prompt:The art of the exchange by u/weithbec

Next

2 venlil and a gojid stand in a room, a table next to each containing items obscured by a sheet.

A camera is rolling.

“Greetings and welcome. With these new human friends being drawn into our herd, have you ever found yourself at a loss for the perfect gift to fit their needs?” The first venlil starts, her dark black fur cut short, drawing close to that associated with exterminators.

“We have found a selection of perfect items your human should not leave home without.” The gojid continues, his quills slightly raised, possibly camera shy.

The third venlil stares at the camera and attempts a smile. White swirls standing out on his dark grey fur.

“My name is Salva” says the first.

“Kayun” says the gojid

“Chek” says the third

“And together we would like to welcome our special guest, a human in the fur…or skin, Jonathan of Earth.”

They give a round of quiet clapping as a young man steps awkwardly into frame.

“Thank you for having me on this…uh…fine show.” The human flashes a smile, hiding it quickly when the gojid visibly flinches.

Salva continues.

“We’ll get right into it. The three of us have each prepared 3 mystery items, perfect for any human of prime. Jonathan here will demonstrate their use so that you fine folks at home can stop your worrying about this human gift-giving culture and embrace it as your own.”

She removes the sheet of the first item, showing a pair of opaque goggles fit for a human’s binocular vision, small protrusions from the side are visible.

“First off, we often fear the binocular vision of our human friends, but instead we should worry. Having to turn your head to face any threat all the time is most certainly a terrible strain on the neck. Just the other day my friend complained about neck ache after waking, surely a terrible curse.”

She walks towards the human and attempts to place the goggles over their eyes, pulling his hair.

“Ow, what the..”

–//CUT//-

The human is standing in a broad stance, his arms spread out for balance though he remains on solid ground. The goggles now cover his eyes.

“These custom goggles give humans the benefit of peripheral sight. Two cameras on the side project a full 270 degrees of vision onto his eyes.”

She begins to walk around him, the human staying stock still.

“As you can see, so can he, no neck turning required.”

“God. If I move I’ll throw up” he mumbles.

“Safe from predator attack from any angle….Rargh!” she makes a mock pounce from his back left. The human flails his arm as he turns his head on reflex. A leg shoots out to regain balance but to no effect, sending him to the floor. Attempting to get back on all fours is a slow process and he refuses to stand.

–//CUT//–

The Gojid speaks.

“On Venlil Prime the humans have graciously abstained from meat, but we all know that their hunger for the kill can only be suppressed for so long before it must rare its ugly head”

“What?” the human exclaims.

“So, my first item will allow the safe diversion of this impulse out of harm's way so they can present their best side to their prey friends.”

The gojid removes the sheet revealing a large stick, roughly whittled into a shape resembling a bone as seen in human cartoons. Walking it over to the human, the gojid tosses it the last few feet before retreating to their table.

“A predator can happily gnaw on this replica as if it were a real bone, with no need for harm to come to any prey.”

The human, holding the bone, looks at the gojid incredulously.

“Go on,” the gojid prompts. “I won’t be offended.”

The human reluctantly nibbles on the bone, the rough piece of wood just slightly too large to fit in his jaw.

“It uh, tastes like a popsicle stick which I don’t mind, but it’s very rough” He pauses, locking his eyes on the gojid who flinches, quills rising in defence. “Like licking a gojid’s back.”

“Ah, Okay, p-please put it down please,” the Gojid stutters. The human just lets it tumble from his hands onto the floor.

Chek takes his cue.

“Predators, their claws are weak, a mockery of the title. This shall be fixed.”

He reveals a glove modified to have sharp knives protruding an extra finger-length from the end.

“With this, even arxur will fear”

He grasps the gloves and runs to the human, the others tensing as the glistening knives make their way at speed. The human steps back on reflex until the venlil stops their travel. Moving in he gingerly dons the gloves.

“Fit to rend flesh from bone, no longer will they be accused of hiding their predatory nature.”

The Gojid's skin colour seemed to lighten where visible, their eyes going glassy.

The human, gaining confidence, began to manipulate the makeshift claws in the air.

“Cool, could make a Freddy Krueger cosplay.”

“A what?” Chek’s tail pauses, the response not what he expected.

“Oh, he’s like this really old horror villain or something. Hunts down people, in the movies. Not real life”

“You already have these?” his tail now resting on the floor.

“You can find them in good costume shops ‘round Halloween. Don’t get me wrong though, these are really well made. Best ones I’ve seen.” His encouragement didn’t do much to raise the venlil's spirit as they slunk back to their table.

Back to Salva who smoothly continues.

“Emotions, they’re hard to read. Human’s have no tails, their ears don’t work, what’s a girl to do?”

Her ears feigned confusion before flicking back up as she revealed her next item.

“Using the latest in non-invasive neural technology, this can all be rectified with these ear and tail attachments. Observe!”

–//CUT//–

The human stood, attached to his lower back was a tail which moved erratically. Upon his head were some ears that did the same. His face was contorted in concentration.

“After calibration, humans will be able to emote like the rest of us. Flick goodbye to miscommunication with this humble bundle.” She flicks her tail in goodbye.

“It takes a lot of concentration but you reckon they’ll get better? For the tail it just feels like I’m rhythmically clenching my butt.”

“AI will learn your brain waves eventually, much like prosthetics for venlil amputees.”

“Well, much better than the vision, this will definitely be popular in some circles.”

Her tail swayed in appreciation of the complement. She repeated the gesture slower and more distinct for the human.

He attempts to copy. He does not.

She performed examples of simple greetings and affirmations using ears and tail. The humans new appendages largely moved without purpose, though a few got close, perhaps by chance.

The gojid clears his throat, focusing on the camera.

"Sick and tired of venlil cowering at the thought of your unrestrained savagery getting the better, worry not. Put your friends at ease with this customisable face shield, available in a multitude of patterns." A mouth covering is revealed, flowing patterns of colour adjourned the hardy metal piece, thick straps were attached at each edge leading to a robust, metal connector.

"If you wouldn't mind." Again it was thrown the last few feet.

–//CUT//–

The human stands, his mouth obscured by the shield, thick straps wrapped around his head. His eyes bore into the Gojid.

"F-fit for a night on the, uh, town. Fashionable and p-practical "

"How do I eat with this thing on?"

"thergh" clears throat "there's a small flap on the front."

The human fumbles around, eventually revealing a small hole, diameter: 6mm.

"So just juice then?"

"Safety first"

"For when I go feral?"

"Should you succumb, yes"

"If I were to succumb, and desire warm, gojid, flesh," he spat. "Would I not just take it off?"

The gojid had shrunk behind his table, gingerly holding up a small silver object.

"It can be locked with a key."

The human's face didn't react. Slowly, with smooth movements, the clasp was undone, the mask removed, gathered in their right hand. A twist of their hips, followed by their shoulder. Bent elbow straightened and the wrist snapped taught, the mask was sent flying on its well aimed course. The gojid did not dodge, they did not have time. Managing only a yelp as the projectile struck their snout.

The stunned gojid raises their paw to their nose, pulling it back showing a dark blue smear.

“Oh protector, no.”

The human steps forward.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to hit you that har-”

“No! Stay back! Please!” The gojid stumbles back, foot tangling in a loose cable, falling on their rump. “Control yourself! Deep breaths! Don’t succumb!” The gojid roles onto their front, quills bristiling in the air as they belly crawl out of frame.

One venlil looks on in concern, the other waves their tail in amusement, the gojids desperate pleas fading.

–//CUT//–

The gojid has returned, their snout bandaged and covered with several layers of plastic wrap.

Chek steps forward.

“We run in fear of predator fangs, frightened by their snarl. But look at the human. His teeth, smaller than ours. Tiny canines to fear? PAH!”

From under the sheet he removes a set of long, protruding fangs attached to a clear structure moulded to fit around human teeth.

“Teeth fit for an apex predator, able to puncture the most succulent of flesh. Prey will rightfully cower when confronted by a true meat eater.”

The human stifles a laugh, catching the venlil's ear.

“Yes! Try them on human. Embrace the predator within!”

With some fumbling, the human managed to fit them in his mouth, unable to close it properly as the fangs protrude from his lips.

“Oh Gosh. Yaw reary hi’ing yuh harrowee starr tuday, huh?”

The translator gives an error.

“Thish ish ‘ri’inh u’h shu’ en’rarashin’ me’orhish ffrom my youfh”

Chek pauses in confusion.

“He mumbles like a beast now,” comments Kayun. The humans eyes roll.

“Fearsome no? Venlil should be ashamed to shirk from anything less,” Chek proclaims.

The human fights to remove the oversized piece from his mouth, a thick string of spit trying desperately to maintain the connection. He wipes it off.

“Gone ultra classic there Chek eh?”

“Classic?” his confident tail wag once again stops.

“Vampires? Mythical humans that feast on the blood of others.”

Kayun gags.

“They’re a human invention?” Chek asks

“Oh yeah, stories dating back literally hundreds of years. We’ve got so many variations. Horror, tragedy, romance…”

“You humans romance these beasts?” The gojid chokes out.

“Oh yeah. I think some find it sexy, being the prey of their lover right?”

Kayun's face curls in disgust. Salva’s ears glow orange. Chek snatches the fangs and plods back to his table.

“You just raid a costume shop?”

“They’re custom made” Chek sulks, throwing them back under the sheet.

“Oh…sorry.”

Salva pat’s down her ears.

“Right. So final round lets up that ante. Venlil prime is perpetually twilight, and cold winds blow. Yet humans have no natural protection. This ends now.”

She pulls off the final sheet, revealing a soft mound of dark black. Holding it up it took the shape of a thick cardigan, dark as night.

“What better to fight against the cold than that naturally adapted to it. Venlil wool is warm, soft, and in plentiful supply.”

A bloom was spreading as she presented it to the human.

“May I?” he asks, she flicks consent.

He quickly dons it, carefully doing up the hand-carved wooden buttons. The fit is large, but not excessive.

“Ooh it’s very soft” He rubs the arm on his face. “Oh, smells like shampoo.”

Salva is covering her eyes.

The human catches himself, returning to a more natural posture.

“Thank you Salva,” she flicks gratitude and retreats back to her table.

Eyes fall on the gojid. He tentatively lifts up the sheet and glances under it before letting it drop.

“I think I’ll pass.”

Chek slowly removes the last sheet covering something of considerable bulk on the table. He picks it up, revealing 4 limbs of dark velvet, a soft tail with a voluminous puff on the end. The body is clad in patchy black grey wool. Atop its head are two pert ears perched above glass eyes of a deep green. Its facial features portrayed in simple hand stitch with a soft expression. It is immediately recognisable as a venlil, coming up to his shoulder in height.

“What is a predator without their prey?” he begins, enthusiasm notably waned.

“As most venlil flee a human touch, humans are left wanting. This can serve as a substitute until they find a willing participant.”

He walks it over to the human.

“Here”

The human takes it and gently cuddles it to his chest, cupping its head with his free hand.

“This is good Chek, very decent size and very cuddly. This will be very popular.”

Cheks ears springs up slightly at the compliment.

“Is this Faux fur?” the human asks.

“I imported the fabric from earth.”

“And you made it?” Chek flicks the affirmative.

“It’s quite robust, the strongest thread I could find. It shouldn’t break, even in a humans grasp”

“Good to know. Well then.” The human buries his head in and squeezes it tight.

<My flesh is yours to enjoy> A recorded voice comes from the venlil, slightly modulated from some pitch shift software though posing no issue for the translator.

Silence. The human squeezes again.

<You are the predator and I am your prey.>

Chek attempts a human like smile. Jonathan is blushing with a smirk. Salva is wringing her tail in her paws, eyes closed, ears glowing. Kayun has his head in his paws.

“You did this too?” Chek flicks affirmative.

“It’s school level electronics.”

“Ah…well. You uh…did well. I’m sure this would be very popular.”

Chek waves his tail with pride. No one else speaks.

<Who’s up for some pancakes?>

Did you not read the NoP fanfic sweater weather? It's adorable and the sweater reminded me

7
CreditMissionOP•

I did read it, it was adorable, and this was a reference. But sweater is too American, this, is a cardigan.

Chek is going to open the first Spirit Halloween on Venlil Prime

21
Acceptable_Egg5560•

Lots of misses, a good amount of costume opportunities, and a couple of products that would be full hits! Especially the last two!

Though the plush will likely need different voice phrases depending on who buys them.

16
CreditMissionOP•

Would hope the plush is vetted by a venlil of more…conventional tastes if it were to ever hit production. Not that it wouldn’t find its niche as is.

16
weithbecVenlil•

I'm so glad someone used that prompt. You nailed it better than I could have imagined! My favorite part is that you can tell exactly what each presenter thinks of humans based purely on their products.

13
CreditMissionOP•

Thanks, it stuck in my head until I fell in love with the venlil. Great prompt, glad I could steal it.

Thanks. May you be blessed with the image of Chek diligently sewing, and then voicing, a giant venlil plush as i have been this past week.

7
TheOneWhoEatsBritishTilfish•

Please, tell me you're joking. A full Venlil plushie? Even doing the pancake line?

Geez, don't complain if by the end of the procedure you see the bathomet of all NoP furries being summoned in your bedroom floor.

3
CreditMissionOP•

Sorry, i mispoke, was talking about the mental image. I wish i had the talent and time. I would love a venplush. Together we would rule this sub, second only to SP themselves. Mwaa ha ha!

3
TheOneWhoEatsBritishTilfish•

AHh, being blessed with the image of a venlil plushie being sewed... ok.

Also, can't help but agree, I would love a plushie of a venlil, maybe even a plushie of Tarlim the venthicc or Sovlin the edgehog.
