Please Read! A Quick Message From The Mods
Hello everyone! This is just a quick note to discuss a couple things:
UPDATE 5/12- VICTIM BLAMING RULE CLARIFICATION WILL BE POSTED LATER THIS AFTERNOON
First of all, we need to address the influx of meta posts we have been getting lately. It's rule #9 of this sub- no meta posts. That includes posts about your hate of the amount of Jenelle posts. We get the most of those. If you don't like Jenelle posts, either don't look at them, or filter them out. I understand there is a bit of confusion on how to filter out Jenelle posts- and it's tough because everyone uses Reddit differently. There is the Reddit app, the Apollo app, browser, and different versions of all of those, etc. The only way I know how to filter out the posts is to filter out by flair on your app- or to go to the browser version of Reddit, sign in, and use this link with new reddit, and with regular reddit or old reddit use this link. That will set it on your account for your app (at least with the official Reddit app) as long as you close out the app & reopen after setting that on browser. Or just scroll past & stop clogging up the sub with another post about Jenelle. The lady gives us the most content on the daily, that's why this sub is filled with posts about her. Also, meta posts include things like posts of "the negativity" on this sub or "body shaming" or "leave these mothers alone". We are here to talk about things happening in the Teen Mom franchise, so that's what we do. If you want to unsub or not participate, please don't break the no meta posts rule and make yet another post about it. If you have concerns or want to begin a discussion about some of those issues, you are free to send a modmail and discuss it with us. Many users do, and we have good conversations about the pros and cons of some of those topics. But it's not something to clog up the feed with.
Second thing: on Friday we'll be pinning a statement about the new victim blaming rule, Reddit's definition, and our interpretation regarding victim blaming going forward. We'll have examples, and leave the post open to answer questions. So be on the lookout- we understand several of you are curious about what does/does not constitute victim blaming. Just know right now that we are not going to overtly censor anybody on this sub. You're always going to be free to be an a-hole here, snark about, and laugh with us at the clever comments other say but we think, don't worry. The mod team is just going to make sure we use a bit of couth regarding certain situations. Post coming Friday explaining more, that will be left up throughout the weekend, so be on the lookout!
Third item to discuss: The mod team was sent a modmail from a user wanting to reintroduce the idea of Community Awards! This has been an idea that previous mod teams had toyed with, but never came to fruition for a variety of reasons. One reason being paying for the actual artwork for the award icons. We are checking out how to get flat icons for this. Keep on the lookout for a mod announcement regarding ideas with Community Awards. We'll be needing advice from all of you on if you want a 'Kieffer's Green Hoodie', or another goofy Teen Mom-ism award on one of your posts or comments.
Last but certainly not least, as some of you may have noticed, u/SeeminglySusan has stepped down from the mod team. All we know is she said she had "personal issues". No drama, no trouble, it was her decision, and it came as a suprise to all of us. So please, no crazy conspiracy theories about that, nobody removed her from the position, nothing shady went down, no meta comments or posts about it. That being said, we added a new mod to the team, u/PolarBearJams! Please welcome them with everything that this crazy family of a sub has to offer! We are toying with the idea of adding another mod since Susan left- should anyone want to, send us a modmail. Preferably someone with mod experience. Not a necessity though. Susan didn't have mod experience and nobody on the team at the time wanted to add her when she applied- but I insisted based on the demeanor in her chat history. And look- she became one of the best mods that ever graced this sub. So a bit of experience is definitely not critical, but preferred. Listen, to mod here you have to have a cool head and a bit of thick skin. The trolls here can be ruthless, unlike anything most mods have dealt with previously. But it's fun. Drop us that modmail if you're interested, we'd love to have you. :-)
Thanks everyone that has read this far. We all love this subreddit, love the witty banter, the cynicism, the creativity, and the interactions with each other. The mod team is doing our best to keep that integrity and keep as many of you happy as we can. :-) Promise.
Thank you everyone for making this sub what it is, so many of us use this sub as the escape that we need from life on the daily. We wouldn't have a sub without all of you!
