Get Elite Impact Mitigation (for the maneuvering) if you plan to fight pathers with a solo Retribution. Their LP Gremlins will Safety Overrides into phase and Nothing Personnel Kid you. Enemy Hyperions will probably do that too. But with yet more Maneuvering bonuses, you can spin more and win. I would remove Ballistic Mastery to accomplish that.

So, Retributions. Talking pure 0.96 vanilla here. They aren't bad when used by the player. But, how good are they? Someone described it like a "Big Aurora." However! Can a big Aurora be nearly completely immune to fighters and missiles while also travelling at the speed of OH SHIT and deleting cruisers in 5 seconds all at once?

No! The Retribution can even screen for the allied fleet, removing missiles and fighters like crazy thanks to its capacity to use a billion ballistic PD as both anti-fighter, anti-missile and anti-ship solutions.

Last i tried, an aurora with sabots and 2x heavy blasters could delete cruisers quickly as well. And a doom with 4x light needlers + 2x phase lances could do it even faster.

IMHO the retribution should have been a battlecruiser version of the eradicator. Perfect for burning in and brawling with mark IX ACs or storm needlers paired with HE missiles. Move the missiles to the front so that you can use unguided missiles like reapers effectively. 1.0 shield efficiency and same armor as the eradicator, and give it flux and hull stats somewhere between an eradicator and onslaught.

But a doom or aurora can’t also screen for fighters and missiles as effectively as these two retribution builds shown in the 2 videos.
